UGH. i'm re-PBing mercy and she is not being nice to me. so the point of this post is to compile every icon of the two choices that i would use so i can do a side by side comparison.
Edit 2: OKAY let's make it a game. This character is ~a werewolf ~very angry and ragey ~not terribly bright ~a little socially awkward, prefers to talk with her fists ~actually quite vulnerable and sensitive, just good at hiding it ~a halfblood slytherin (probably. might end up a gryffindor) ~somewhere around 25 years old ~an alcoholic and smoker
Which of the girls below should I use?
( option a - neve campbell ) ( option b - jessica biel )
ETA: FUCK IT DIDN'T HELP. I HATE MY LIFE. |

Does anyone need a wife or anything for NS? I'm interested in redoing Melinda. Name negotiable although I'd like to keep her the same age and pureblood. Almost everything else about her is still up in the air. |

GUYS GUYS GUYS if you want to play some evil bitches, some underdog good guys, or generally wreak havoc a bit, come check out thisiswarmods. We're probably not really beginning play until after new year's, but we're taking holds and apps now and are probably doing first adds wednesday night. it would mean a lot if you would just check it out even if it turns out to not be your thing :D |

I haven't met a lot of hardcore, long-term writers roleplaying. For most of the roleplayers I know, writing is a hobby and it's just there for fun, not to actually hone skills. By no means is this everyone I know. But most of my friends have other jobs and other ambitions and I only know a couple of people who, to my knowledge, have written novel-length anything other than fanfiction or added-up logs.
My ambitions are twofold: writing and psychology. Actually, that's a little misleading; my dream is writing, my backup plan is psychology. I've written...a few novels, to use all such terms loosely. One is half-done and probably dead, one is shorter than most novels, one is unpublishable and unedited...etc. In any case, it's always been writing. I have a lot of stories in me, and I've always had this need to get them out. I met another person who believes the same things as I do recently, in a bar, and he told me some things he thinks about me and my life and my future, based on talking to me. I returned the favor (and I do consider it a favor -- whether such interactions are really fueled by what I believe or whether it's just subconscious cold reading like people keep trying to tell me, it's useful and at least interesting to get some completely neutral, utterly outside insight). One of the things he told me was that psychology could fill gaps, but that writing was going to be where it was at. When I think about my passion and what my mind is like, I'm inclined to believe he's right, if we go on the assumption that "the thing you love" is "where it's at."
I want to write another novel by November. Then I'll do NaNoWriMo and probably write the sequel to my nano from last year. I have no idea what happens in this sequel except that Baphomet should probably show up again and Addie might kill him again, but I doubt that. She'll definitely have sex with him again, though. She's a siren, he's a god of debauchery. Pas de deux. I thought he was a one-off but I think he's gonna insist on coming back every book.
The problem is, I have no plot for another novel. Nothing. Zero. I have little bits nibbling at the edges of my brain, like little fish. Have you ever stuck your foot or hand into a creek with a lot of little fish, and had them come investigate to see if they could eat you? That's what my brain has felt like for three months now. I have characters I know well enough to get into a novel, but none of them will sit up and give me enough to put on a page. I have no real plot and no new worlds that aren't obvious ripoffs of other worlds. The problem with roleplaying is that it spoils you just as much as it hones you. It makes some skills better while letting others atrophy. To quote Ursula Vernon, I have no idea what I'm doing. Specifically for this, but also in a more general way. How the hell have I cranked out two and a half novels? How do I do this? I seem to recall it involving a lot of just sitting down and writing, but that isn't happening now. What was the process there?
(I know full well that there was no process more complex than that and I must have some kind of block or I'm wasting too much energy on other things, but "I've just forgotten, I'll remember soon" is a lot easier to deal with than "I just have to wait" or "I have to stop doing this other stuff first.")
I've got a couple things with a page or two already down. When I ask "what happens next?" I am met with silence from my brain. I'm not asking for divine inspiration on the order of an entire book complete with plot twists and hilarious side characters being dropped on my head, but I need something. I don't know, I'm just ranting. I'm hoping that by writing about it, I can work it out and get past the blockage -- pass the stone, if you will -- and get something real done, even if it's not completely what I want to. |

Title: Burn Who: Mercy Ryan and Finn Connolly What: Wild West AU. Yes, really. Mercy's the prettiest girl in the saloon, and Finn's the big shot deputy who's promised to take her away. Rating: NC17. This is pretty much PWP. It's PWP for which I googled what kind of pants they wore in the Old West, but random porn (with garnishes of fluff and angst at the end) nonetheless.
( He liked that. ) |

Comment with one of my characters (past or present) and I will tell you the following: 1. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her. 2. One of his/her best traits. 3. One of his/her worst traits. 4. How easy/difficult I find it to write the character. 5. The story/thread/chapter/post/paragraph/tag/phrase where I feel that I truly captured the character. 6. My plans for the character in the near future. |
